Velvet~ Glam Grunge

"She wore Blue Velvet
Bluer than velvet was the night
Softer than satin was the light
From the stars"

Okay, so my skirt isn't made from blue velvet... or even real velvet!

February Preview

As you may or may not know, February is Women's History Month as well as Black History Month.
Every so often, I do a sort of post I call style icon, where I focus on a person whose style inspires me.

I think I'll have a few special style icon posts that pay homage to Women's History Month and/or Black History Month for February.
If you have any suggestions for lovely people to "iconize," if you will, leave their name in the comments!

Amelia is definitely a possibility!

H&M Colored Tights

After New Year's I went to the mall with my family and I bought a 2-pack of tights from H&M.
It included a brown pair and a navy pair. I also purchased some animal print crew-length socks as well! Perfect for these "winter" months. View H&M Socks & Tights here.

I thought these check patterned tights were super cute! I might have to buy these ;)

Here is how I styled my navy tights:

Nothing New

Every night I try my best to dream
Tomorrow makes it better
Then I wake up to the cold reality
And not a thing has changed

Grunge Shoot Pt. 2/New Year's Eve

Last time I had a bad lighting situation, I turned it into a 'grunge photo shoot'. Read that post here.
This is the outfit I wore on New Year's Eve when I went to California Pizza Kitchen with my family.

I FINALLY GOT A LEATHER JACKET.

I've wanted a leather moto-style jacket and my mom bought me one for Christmas! It was too small on me, so we returned it and I picked out this one from Foreign Exchange for $39! I can't get enough of my new high top sneakers either!

New Year Celebrations & 2013 Recap

Happy 2014!

I hope everyone learned a lot from this past year.
I sure had fun experimenting with my style! At first, it felt like I was dressing for the blog, but soon I was dressing for me!
I started this blog December of 2012 to document my personal style. It isn't as widely read as I'd like it to be, but I created it originally for me anyways.

Let's recap 2013, shall we?

January: I put all of my obsessions in this post; most of which are the same today!
February: An over-edited OOTD for Valentine's Day. I discovered Picasa (3)!
March: Looking back, this post was sort of weird, but I love the outfit.
April: Still exciting to think about: I guest posted at The Pineneedle Collective!
May: This was about the time I started wearing skirts & dresses more often.
June: I layered a Sears' top over a dress I got from a friend- how inventive, Courtney!
July: I made my black circle skirt then- anyone who's read my blog is familiar with it!
August: I had fun visiting FIDM OC for a Sewing Workshop where I made that denim skirt!
September: My favorite OOTD~ simple, chic, and timeless.
October: Transitioning into autumn, knee-deep in homework.
November: We got a taste of cooler weather! (And a different background, haha.)
December: A sunny Californian Christmas! I loved showing off my vintage reindeer pin.

Who's ready for another year of style? Pretty please leave any suggestions or comments about the existing/upcoming content on this blog!
