Spring 2013 trend: Retro mod

Let's talk about the Spring- Summer 2013 runway! I don't keep good track of fashion week but I still see the fashion ads for big brands in Teen Vogue & Seventeen Magazine.
I really connected with Louis Vuitton's collection because I was sketching a mod checkerboard dress before the ad was even released! I felt like a trend- forecaster!

I love the 60's vibe and simple color palette. You can watch the ACTUAL runway here!

Here are my nails inspired by their line! Have a great day and Spring Break!

OOTD: Celebrating St. Patty's

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Your ultimate celebration guide for this holiday:

Find green food and eat it. Except raw broccoli. (Yuck.)
Wear cheesy t-shirts that say "Kiss me, I'm Irish" that you found at Walmart.
Talk in a terrible Irish accent so your friends are annoyed at you and do a little leprechaun dance.
Draw rainbows and/or pot o' gold(s) on your math test.
Find a four leaf clover. It's possible. I swear.
Have fun :)

#SHOES

So I always though I favored clothing over shoes. I didn't know I was a "shoe person." However, I could spend hours on Etsy and in vintage stores drooling over every pair of cute flats/oxfords/boots/wedges I see. Here are some places to buy pretty shoes. Just click on the photo to be directed to their site.

PRINTS 101

So, you want to mix prints? Me too. Here are some tips I pulled together. Happy print - mixing!

{ 1.  LACE & A PRINT}
For us beginner print- mixers, start by experimenting with textures. In the above picture, the lace doesn't stand out as its own print, but it contrasts with the pretty floral skirt. Minimal girly accessories pull the look together. Stick with flats, sandals or wedges for this look.

{ 2.  ONE IN THE SAME}
The look pictured above is a a step up from #1, but still subtle. The trick with patterned outfits is to stick to one color palette. Notice how both pieces contain the color white? Neutral shoes and little accessorizing keep it chic and simple.

 { 3.  2 PRINTS}
In this outfit, two simple pieces are paired up. They are both navy & white, (color- coordination!) but we never thought stripes and polka dots could go hand in hand! Observe how the circular details on the necklace play with the dotty print of the skirt. If you're still scared- try sticking with black & white pieces!

{ 4.  BOLD DUO} via Flashes of Style
 Hold on: don't be intimidated! Stripes + floral are the ultimate wild & colorful pair-up. Like I mentioned in #2, stick to a loose color palette. See how both the skirt & crop top have black? And the skirt & satchel have yellow? And the list goes on... have fun experimenting!

Hope you found this helpful/inspirational/fun/cool/interesting! Send me pics of YOUR patterned outfits in the comments below or e-mail them to me at the contact- me tab above! See ya' soon!
